This cactus will grow at a moderate rate to 4' x 6'. Yellow blossoms appear late spring. Pads are unique. They are rich purple in winter, during warmer months they are soft blue-grey. Quite spiny. Needs full sun, and good drainage. Good in transition or arid zone.
Frost tolerant to 15 F.
