Importance of Landscaping

Why Landscape?

Paul Connelly Strell_14 CB

The first thing people see when they look at a house is its exterior and surroundings.  A beautiful landscape will not only increase the curb appeal of your home by enhancing its looks, but it will also increase its value.  But there is much more to landscaping than what other people see.

Landscapes are much more than a few nicely arranged plants.  They are extensions of our homes and serve as outdoor living spaces.  For that reason, landscapes reflect not only some of our personality but also a bit of our sense of what is beautiful and even what is practical.

Landscapes serve as play areas for children and pets and gathering areas for family and friends.  They are the living spaces for wildlife, so you may wish to design your landscape to attract or  repel them.  Certain plants can screen unattractive views. Well-planned landscapes can also reduce air conditioning and heating costs and help regulate ambient outdoor temperatures.

Landscapes allow us to enjoy a piece of nature in our increasingly urban environment. This enjoyment can be either very hands-on or very laissez faire depending on how we choose to create and maintain our landscapes.
